CanBot Camp: Robotic Can Creation

  CanBot Camp Outline

Day 1: CanBot Introduction

Introduction to the CanBot project and its components
Hands-on activity: Building and programming an LED blinking circuit in the CanBot’s stomach
Troubleshooting common issues with LED circuits

Day 2: Eye Integration

Introduction to ultrasonic sensors and their use in robotics
Hands-on activity: Integrating ultrasonic sensors to create CanBot’s eye
Programming the eyes to react to objects using sensor data

Day 3: Servo Arms Assembly

Introduction to servo motors and their applications
Hands-on activity: Building and attaching servo motors to CanBot’s body for arm movement
Programming the servo motors to control arm movements

Day 4: Stepper Motor Base Assembly

Introduction to stepper motors and their advantages
Hands-on activity: Building and attaching a stepper motor to CanBot’s base for movement
Programming the stepper motor to control CanBot’s movement

Day 5: Remote Control Integration

Introduction to remote control systems and their implementation 
Hands-on activity Integrating sound system and infrared receiverto CanBot
Programming the remote control system to control CanBot’s  motors

  Robotic Arm Camp Outline

Day 1: Intro to Servo Motor Control 

Introduction to robotics and robotic arms
Hands-On Activity: Assembling the mechanical structure and connecting servo motors.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving any wiring or connection issues with servo motors.

Day 2: Arm Assembly

Introduction robotic arm with integrated sensors
Hands-On Activity: Integrating sensors into the robotic arm design and fine-tuning servo motor movements.
Troubleshooting: Debugging sensor integration issues and adjusting servo motor settings for accuracy.

Day 3: Claw Mechanism

Introduction to stepper motors and their applications in robotics
Hands-On Activity: Designing and assembling the claw mechanism, programming stepper motor movements.
Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting stepper motor control issues and refining the claw mechanism for smooth operation.

Day 4: Final Testing and Showcase

Final assembly and testing of the complete robotic arm system
Showcase to parents and peers
Hands-On Activity: Completing final assembly, testing all components, and preparing for the showcase.
Troubleshooting: Addressing any last-minute issues or adjustments to ensure the robotic arm functions properly during the showcase.

DAILY SCHEDULE

9:00-9:10 AM: Arrival and Preparation

  • Welcome campers as they arrive and assist them in getting their materials ready for the day’s activities.

9:10-9:30 AM: Group Games

  • Engage in team-building activities to foster camaraderie and collaboration among campers.

9:30-9:50 AM: Robotic Concepts/Theory

  • Introduce mechanical, electronic, and engineering concepts relevant to the day’s building project.

9:50-10:50 AM: Building Time (Part 1)

  • Begin building their robot, focusing on the initial assembly of components and structural framework.
  • Encourage teamwork and problem-solving as campers work together on their projects.

1050-11:00 AM: Snack Break

  • Allow campers to enjoy a snack brought from home.

11:00-11:45 AM: Building Time (Part 2)

  • Continue building their robot, focusing on refining design details and adding functional components.
  • Provide guidance and assistance as needed to support camper progress.

11:45 AM-12:00 PM: Clean-Up and Wrap-Up

  • Assist campers in cleaning up their workspaces and organizing materials.
  • Review key concepts learned during the day’s activities and preview the agenda for the next camp day.
  • Dismiss campers for the day at 12:00 PM.
